People only just discovering what 'useless' extra Christmas light is used for
When it comes to putting up your festive decorations this Christmas time, there may be little items here and there that you'll end up throwing out - but there's one thing you should keep a hold of.
by Abbie Meehan, https://www.facebook.com/abbiemeehannews · Daily RecordEver wondered why a pack of Christmas lights comes with extra plastic cylinders similar to those on the strip that shine bright?
What if we told you that there was actually a use for them, and sometimes you can even change the colour that your Christmas lights give off if you use them?
One woman on TikTok, who goes by @viznelly, has stunned her followers with this exact information, as she shared this simple light hack on the social media platform.
The woman captioned the video: "I was today years old when I found out what these are for", as she holds one of the tiny spare lights in her hand.
In the video, she simply pulls out one of the regular light bulbs and slots this spare one in, so now there is one little red bulb in beside the other white ones.
The main purpose of this bulb is to make the lights blink periodically, instead of staying on constantly - giving the effect of a twinkling decoration as the lights flash on and off.
This video garnered over 1.8 million likes on the platform, and a whopping 22.9 million views since it was posted in November 2022.
Followers swarmed the woman's comments, leaving over 6,600 posts down below sharing their awe at the secret use of this spare bulb.
One person commented: "I swear to god this app has taught me more in the last year than I have been alive."
Another said: "The blinky lights are nice but having one red bulb would bother me."
And a third added: "Is this for real, I thought they were 'warning spares' so you knew you were nearly out!"
