New Xiaomi Redmi 13C model brings 5G connectivity and improved performance with MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus chipset

by · Notebookcheck

Under a month has passed since Xiaomi introduced the Redmi 13C, an entry-level handset that the company also sells as the POCO C65. Not only has the original Redmi 13C now debuted in India, but so has a more powerful option under the name 'Redmi 13C 5G'. As its name suggests, the second Redmi 13C has a 5G modem, which the first Redmi 13C lacks.

Additionally, Xiaomi has swapped in the MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus, a 6 nm SoC that contains two ARM Cortex-A76 CPU cores that can boost to 2.2 GHz and six more Cortex-A55 efficiency cores restricted to 2 GHz. Announced over the summer, the Dimensity 6100 Plus should provide significantly more performance than the 12 nm Helio G85 inside the Redmi 13C.

Moreover, Xiaomi has removed one of the 4G model's 2 MP auxiliary cameras and has downgraded the front-facing camera to a 5 MP sensor. A 50 MP primary camera remains though, as does a 6.74-inch IPS panel that resolves at 90 Hz and 720p. Likewise, Xiaomi equips the Redmi 13C 5G with a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 18 W charging. While Xiaomi has not confirmed global availability yet, the Redmi 13C 5G costs as follows at launch in India:

  • 4 GB of RAM/128 GB of storage - INR 10,999 (~US$132)
  • 6 GB of RAM/128 GB of storage - INR 12,499 (~US$150)
  • 8 GB of RAM/256 GB of storage - INR 14,499 (~US$174)
