Woman, 81, killed in horror crash was 'one of the kindest people you could meet'

Mary Keogh (81) from Larkfield, Dring, Longford was killed in a single vehicle collision in Edgeworthstown at around 4.40pm on Monday evening after her car left the road while traveling on the N4 at Lisnagrish and struck a wall.
Locals described Mary as ‘’one of the kindest people that you could meet’’. Another described her as ‘’such a wonderful and vibrant lady. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

The Keogh family are well-known in golfing circles in Longford and Ms Keogh’s sister Monica Tynan is a former Lady Captain of Longford Golf Club.
Paying tribute to Mary, Longford Golf Club said: ‘’We were saddened to hear of the death in a car accident yesterday of past lady captain Monica Tynan's dear sister Mary. Our sincerest sympathy to Monica and extended family on this tragic loss. May her dear soul rest in peace’’.
Ms Keogh, who was predeceased by her husband Jack, is survived by her children Seán, Maria, Ciarán and Peter. Mary's funeral Mass will take place on Friday December 8 at 12 noon in St. Columba's Church, Mullinalaghta with interment afterwards in the local cemetery.
In a statement gardaí at Granard said they are continuing ‘’to appeal for witnesses following a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision in Edgeworthstown, County Longford on Monday, December 4.
"Shortly after 4:40pm, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a single vehicle collision on the N4 at Lisnagrish, Edgeworthstown. The sole occupant of the car, a woman aged 80 years, was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel. She was brought by ambulance to Tullamore Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased."
