Excitement is building across the city as all eyes in the fashion world will be on Manchester this Thursday for a huge Chanel fashion show. The luxury clothing brand is holding its annual Métiers d’Art event in the Northern Quarter.

Thomas Street has been transformed into a catwalk with a huge canopy constructed above the road. Final preparations are being made ahead of the exclusive show, which translates to “Masters of art”, and a huge mural has appeared on the corner of Thomas Street and High Street.

Big names from the world of fashion, film and music are expected to attend the prestigious show on Thursday evening with a 600-strong guestlist. There are rumours that the guestlist will include celebrities with Manchester connections, including Manchester United legend David Beckham and Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.

Although the event has been shrouded in secrecy in recent weeks, with a little over 24 hours to go until the big event excitement is reaching fever pitch. Many businesses are having to close for a couple of days during the event, but popular pub The Millstone is remaining open with its famous karaoke continuing to play. It has even put up posters saying it “welcomes stars and visitors to Manchester”.
