The Royal Family hosts diplomatic reception at Buckingham Palace
by Lydia Starbuck · Royal CentralThe Royal Family has welcomed members of the Diplomatic Corps to Buckingham palace for a special reception.
Hundreds of diplomats joined The King, The Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales at the evening event which is traditionally held in the first days of December.
Guests included ambassadors and high commissioners.
Before the reception began, King Charles and Queen Camilla posed for an official photograph to mark the event alongside the Prince and Princess.
The Queen wore the Girls of Britain and Ireland tiara for the second time in a matter of weeks. Her Majesty also chose a rather unusual piece of jewellery for the event. Queen Camilla wore a ‘stomacher’, a large brooch type gem that was popular in late Victorian and Edwardian times and which is always worn on the front of the bodice of a dress.
The Princess of Wales wore the Queen Mary Lover’s Knot tiara, one of her most popular diadems. Catherine also wore a pair of diamond earrings that came to the Royal Family from the heiress, Mrs Greville.
The King and the Prince of Wales were both in white tie for the reception.
