Tony Bellew's wife, Rachael Roberts, has explained the reason why her husband clashed with Fred Sirieix in I'm A Celebrity.

The Liverpudlian boxer has been a hit with fans since he arrived in the Australian camp. However, there was some tension in the camp on Monday's episode when he clashed with the First Dates presenter.

Tony was forced to step in when Fred decided he would complete the Bushtucker Trial. He said: "Let’s just take our time and everyone have a little say of why they think they should do it before we just jump in and rush off. Chill out Fred."

Rachael appeared on yesterday's edition of Good Morning Britain and explained why Fred's behaviour riled Tony. She said: "Ant likes people to be equal.

"Fred jumped up and said ‘I’ll do that’ and I think he just wanted to calm the situation. It’s fair for everyone to have a go at things.”

Fred exited the show last night while Tony is now one of the favourites to be crowned King of the Jungle. Rachael said she can see Tony is surprised at his own success in TV's toughest entertainment challenge.

She said: "When I watch the evictions, I can see the shock in his face that he's still getting kept in."
