ITV I'm A Celebrity fans fume over 'impossible' trial as Marvin and Fred struggle

Viewers took to social media to criticise the latest trial on I'm A Celebrity as 'impossible' as Fred Sirieix and Marvin Humes struggled to collect stars while balancing on a slippery wall

I'm A Celebrity fans all had the same complaint about the Fly On The Wall trial on Tuesday's episode of the ITV reality series.

Viewers slammed the challenge as "hard" and "boring", with one unimpressed person even slating it as "impossible" for the contestants to win. The tricky Fly On The Wall saw First Dates star Fred Sirieix and JLS member Marvin Humes dress up as flies to try to acquire stars while balancing on a wall hanging over a lake.

Host Declan Donnelly explained the rules of the physically-demanding game, which also had a time limit of just 8 minutes. "You'll both start the Trial standing on the ledges of either side of the wall where you'll notice there are eight half stars on either side. You have to work together to collect your half stars in numbered order. 'Then you'll get both pieces into the star bag. Only full stars in the bag at the end of the Trial will count. There are 8 stars to get."

Ant then warned: "Only full stars in your bag at the end of the Trial will count. You can pass on a number. But once you've passed on a number you can't go back to it. Now, if you drop a piece in the water it's lost. You can't go swimming for it Fred. I'm looking at you because you go rogue. And if you fall in the water, or Marvin falls in the water, we'll stop the clock and we'll get you back on the wall."

Both Fred, 52, and Marvin, 38, struggled to keep their balance on the slippery wall and fell into the water several times. Despite a less than stellar start, the pair managed to secure five out of a possible eight stars.

Viewers at home criticised the task as 'impossible' and 'confusing', making it less enjoyable to watch. One fan tweeted: 'This trial looks impossible. I'd be falling off all the time' while another said: "That's one of the hardest trials I've seen." Others echoed these sentiments, with one person writing, "5/8 stars considering that ridiculous trial is pretty darn good."

One viewer complained: 'Is it just me or is this "fly on the wall" trial boring! They made it so difficult it's not fun...' Another viewer stated: 'That was by far the deadest trial of the series that lmao' and another wrote: 'This trial is confusing the hell out of me'. Further comments included: 'This trial looks hard as hell. Let's be honest everyone would have fallen off' and 'This trial is impossible. 100% this trial has been made impossible on purpose because they've been getting decent stars recently."

Another person wrote: 'That trial literally felt like something out of Total Wipeout. A very weird trial' while another asked: 'Who on earth thought up that ridiculous trial? Awful'. However, some fans said they 'loved' the challenge and argued it was 'more creative' and out-of-the-box compared to other trials over the years. One person praised: 'Whoever designed this trial is a genius' while another echoed: 'An actually well designed trial. Loved that.'
