Rochelle Humes lands in Australia ahead of reunion with ITV I'm A Celebrity's husband Marvin
The Saturdays singer has been married to JLS star Marvin since 2012 and she is looking forward to being reunited with her husband once he is eliminated from the I'm A Celeb camp
by Mark Jefferies · The MirrorRochelle Humes has landed in Australia and won her race against time to meet her husband Marvin as he leaves the I'm A Celebrity jungle.
The TV host, 34, left London unsure if Marvin could be evicted by the time she arrived, but luckily Fred Sirieix was the third person out on the public vote. It means Rochelle, who confessed her fear of flying, will be able to head into camp with the other friends and family and can greet him whenever he comes out in of the jungle.
As she made her way through the airport, Rochelle looked stylish in a cropped white and beige jacket with a beige top underneath and white jeans. The Saturdays singer completed the ensemble with a pair of oversized sunglasses and wore her short bob in a sleek, straight style.
Rochelle had a black quilted handbag with a gold chain on her shoulder as she pushed her luggage on a trolley through arrivals with a big smile on the face – undoubtedly excited to be reunited with her JLS husband. After landing in Brisbane, Rochelle said of her journey: "My flight was not too bad. I made it, it's quite a way. I am not the best flyer but it was alright, I went to sleep. I am pleased I am here."
However, when she was asked about leaving it late and risking missing Marvin coming out she added: "I was always coming on this day. Of course I want people to keep voting. I didn't see last night's episode cos I was up in the sky but I can't wait to see it, I have been sent a little link."
And, when quizzed if she would like Marvin to stay in longer, even though she was now here in Australia, she said she would love to have a spa day if he can survive a bit longer. With a smile, she said: "One more day would do. A spa would be fantastic, I have given the kids to my mum so a spa would be great."
Rochelle and Marvin share three children together – Alaia-Mai, eight, Valentina, four, and Blake, ten months – but not all of them have been tuning in due to the late time of the programme. Rochelle said: "For my youngest two it is on quite late but they know and they are excited."
TV host Rochelle attended Monday night's British Fashion Awards red carpet before jumping in a car and changing clothes and then preparing to board a flight. But she was in a race against time and had to rely on her fans and JLS fans to keep him in camp. The 24 hour journey was particularly tough as Rochelle hates flying and was travelling solo.
Speaking on instagram after leaving the Fashion awards, Rochelle said: "I'm gonna go to the airport and fly and make my way to Oz. I've never been to Australia before and fun fact I'm actually scared of flying.
"So for the very first time ever flying to Australia, I'm gonna be doing it on my own which is very interesting. Arggghhhh. But yeah, I just wanted to remind you to save him because I'm making my way to the bridge and I don't want him on it when I get there."
Rochelle is the last member of the contestants' friends and family to have made their way to Australia. She said previously she had work commitments which prevented her going out last week.
The 2023 season of I'm A Celeb has been a damp squib compared to previous seasons - and not just because there has been near endless rain in the jungle while the show has been filming. Record numbers of viewers have been switching off on the show - which has seen ratings drop to a 20 year low.
There are fears the lacklustre audience is down to the casting of Nigel Farage, who scooped a reported £1.5 million to appear on the show. The casting provoked a backlash with many devout I'm A Celeb fans vowing to boycott the series – with the action reflected in the low viewing figures.
And the current season has been beset with problems as two top stars quit the show before the voting public had the chance to evict the cast members. Food critic Grace Dent, 50, walked from the show citing medical reasons after just one week – after viewers expressed concern over her frail appearance.
And top billed star Jamie Lynn Spears, 32, soon followed as she struggled to cope on the show, saying she missed her family. The star was also reported to have left due to medical grounds - but she has since returned to the USA and appeared on Dancing With The Stars where she had competed earlier in the autumn.
Now that voting is under way, a number of celebs have been booted off the long-running ITV show. Italian jockey Frankie Dettori, 52, was the first to be voted off the show once the public had the power to vote for their favourites to win. He was followed by YouTube star Nella Rose, 26, who was voted out after angering some fans as she clashed with First Dates star Fred Sirieix, 51, during her time on the show. And Fred himself was next to be voted off – exiting the jungle after causing upset with his obsession about cooking in camp.
