Taylor Swift's cat on Time magazine cover has appeared in music videos
by Kamal Sultan For Dailymail.Com · Mail OnlineTaylor Swift chose to pose with her beloved cat as she was named Time Magazine's Person of the Year - but it is not the first time she's thrusted her million-dollar pets into the spotlight.
The 33-year-old pop star was pictured with her four-year-old ragdoll Benjamin Button on the cover of the iconic magazine.
She insisted on bringing the feline to the photoshoot after hearing she was crowned Person of the Year. Swift joked about the interaction on X and wrote: 'Time Magazine: We’d like to name you Person of the Yea-, Me: Can I bring my cat?'
Swift has two other felines, Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson, who have appeared in music videos and adverts and are worth up to an estimated $100million each.
The felines' stunning net worths were revealed earlier this year in a report from AllAboutCat.com. The site calculated the totals on a fictitious ability to earn money via Instagram accounts. The report determined potential earnings per post and then multiplied it by the average number of likes.
'The Scottish Fold earned her fortune starring alongside her owner in several music videos, has crafted her own merchandise line, and has had cameos in many big-budget ads, including for the likes of Diet Coke and Ned Sneakers,' the website stated about Benjamin Button.
In April 2020, Benson made an appearance on Swift's Instagram and quickly earned more than 2million likes.
In the January report, Benson was estimated to have a net worth of $97million, coming in as third wealthiest cat. That figure was determined before Swift took over the world in the summer with sold-out concerts and a front-page relationship with Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce.
The site didn't offer net worths for Swift's other two cats, but they are no stranger to social media and the limelight. For sure, Benjamin Button's worth will shoot up with an appearance alongside Swift on the Time magazine cover.
Swift wore a black bodysuit as she posed with blue-eyed Benjamin Button on the cover of this month's Time Magazine.
She first laid eyes on the feline on the set of Me! that starred both Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson. She fell in love and took the cat home after the photo shoot, bringing her collection to three.
'Hi honey, you're beautiful,' she told the feline as she gently stroked it. 'He's purring.'
Benjamin Button's handler added: 'He purrs a lot. He's a purr lot. He flops over on his back and gets belly rubs.
Swift asked: 'Can I have him?' and the handler replied: 'He is available.'
She took him home immediately after the shoot, naming him after fictional character Benjamin Button from the 2008 movie.
'I fell in love,' Swift recalled. 'She handed me this tiny cat and he just starts purring and … he looks at me like, "You're my mom, and we're going to live together."'
'I looked at Brendon and he's like, "You're going to get the cat aren't you?".'
The 12-time Grammy-winning singer introduced Benjamin Button on Instagram a few days later with a photo of the pair together that she captioned: 'And then there were three'.
Her other cats, Scottish Folds Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson, have regularly racked up millions of likes on her Instagram page, featured in her music videos Blank Space and Me! and appeared in adverts.
The pair also made it into Deadpool 2 with Ryan Reynolds sporting a t-shirt which shows them sitting side by side with the words 'Olivia & Meredith Best Friends Purrrrr-Ever'.
Swift adopted her first cat in 2011 and named it after Grey's Anatomy character Meredith Grey.
She recorded the cat supportively meowing to her 2012 hit I Knew You Were Trouble as it was playing on the radio.
Meredith Grey is seen as Swift's most reclusive cat and she encouraged fans to self-quarantine during the pandemic like her.
'For Meredith, self quarantining is a way of life. Be like Meredith,' she wrote alongside a picture of her hiding pet.
The pop star brought her second cat home in 2014 and named her after another television character in Law & Order.
Olivia Benson even met her namesake, played by Mariska Hargitay in 2015.
Swift shared a video of the interaction and said: 'This is Olivia Benson meeting Olivia Benson, and um, things are going well so far.'
The cat was also featured in an outtake from an AT&T ad campaign with Swift and joined her owner in a Diet Coke advertisment.
Olivia Benson joined Swift and Benjamin Button at the Billboard Music Awards in 2019 where they posed with Paula Abdul.
Swift's cats have built up a cult following with fan pages dedicated to them and merchandise lines crafted in their name.
