Police: Man shot in head at Monroe party, expected to live

A suspect has not been identified. Monroe detectives are still investigating and asking for tips.

MONROE — A California man suffered a gunshot wound to the head during a party in Monroe early Saturday morning, according to police.

Monroe officers responded to reports of a large party in the 17200 block of Sawyer Street SE. As they were responding, the 911 caller reported that they believed they heard a gunshot. Other callers told dispatchers they heard arguing, screaming and multiple shots.

Officers found a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head and had him transported to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. He was then transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in stable condition, according to a news release form Monroe police.

Several people fled the scene on foot or drove away. No suspect has been identified. Detectives are still investigating the scene and collecting evidence.
