Man arrested after shots fired in Lynnwood

Police reportedly found the suspect in a car outside his neighbor’s home with two loaded guns.

LYNNWOOD — A man was arrested after he allegedly fired a half dozen shots into the air in Lynnwood, according to police.

Reports came in of shots fired around 6:30 a.m. Friday in the 17000 block of 33rd Place West. According to witnesses, a man parked his vehicle in front of his neighbor’s house and fired the gun from inside the car.

He was still in the vehicle when a Lynnwood police sergeant arrived. The man reportedly had two loaded handguns that had their hammers back. One of them was on the passenger seat, according to a police department news release.

According to the news release, the sergeant asked the man repeatedly to show his hands. He allegedly refused and instead reached down.

“After approximately forty-five seconds of noncompliance the suspect relented and put his hands up,” police spokesperson Joanna Small wrote.

The man reportedly got out of the vehicle and the sergeant arrested him. A third handgun reportedly was found in a fanny pack that the suspect was wearing.

The suspect was booked into the Lynnwood jail for investigation of drive-by shooting, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. He was expected to be transferred to the Snohomish County Jail on Friday, Small said.

Detectives have obtained some surveillance footage but are looking for additional video of the suspect, who is described as a Black man in his 30s. He was driving a white BMW sedan. Tips can be directed to Detective Sgt. Brian Jorgensen at bjorgensen@lynnwoodwa.gov.
