Man charged with firearm offences following raid on Tweed unit

A man is due to appear in court today charged with a string of offences after police uncovered several firearms in a Tweed Heads unit.

Officers made the shock discovery while executing a search warrant at an apartment on Margaret Street in Tweed Heads yesterday.

During the raid, investigators allegedly located three gel blaster handguns, firearm parts, a canister of pepper spray, a mobile phone and a laser pointer.

The items have been seized for forensic examination.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at the property and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with three counts of possess unauthorised firearms, two counts of possess prohibited weapon, two counts of supply prohibited drug and breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today.

Police say investigations are continuing
