Police counsel man out of killing self over inability to marry Buhari’s daughter

For insisting on killing himself, the police have counselled Abba Ahmad who has now discarded plans.

Ahmad had planned to kill himself over his inability to marry President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter.

Ahmad is a 22 year-old businessman and 400-year accounting student of the North-West University, Kano now Yusuf Maitama Sule University,.

He had been sending marriage proposals to Hanan on Facebook and Instagram, The Nation reports.

According to him, he was thrilled by Hanan’s beauty and educational qualifications.

“I am in love with her (Hanan Buhari) because of her beautiful face, her level of education and integrity of her father (Buhari).

“I tried informing her but I don’t know whether the messages got to her,” Ahmad said.

When he wasked asked why he would die because of a woman, he said: “I just said it.”

Kano police spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna, said the police in Kano, at the prompting of Frank Mba, invited Ahmad to the Command Headquarters where he was persuaded not to kill self.

Police commissioner Habu Sani and a police Imam also counselled him.

Going further, the newspaper reports that after dropping his plans, Ahmad expressed his desire to join the force because of the “friendly manner” the police treated his case.

In another development, comrade Ezenwa Nwagwu stated that Nigerians attitude to elections has something to do with the kind of security positioning that eventually happens “because election crimes are trivialized.”

Nwagwu, the executive director of Peering Advocacy and Advancement Centre in Africa and chairman, Partners for Electoral Reforms in Nigeria, made the comment when he appeared on a Channels Television programme, Politics Today, on Thursday, September 3.

Responding to fake policemen as an election security problem, Nwagwu stated that it’s an indictment on security agencies if they are unable to fish out those perpetrating crimes committed during elections.
