The Polish video game developer CD Projekt Red has offered up a double dose of good news to fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Not only is the title being overhauled for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC, but if gamers already own the popular action RPG for the PS4, Xbox One, or Windows platforms, then they can also get the enhanced version of the game as a free update.

Future PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X owners, and those with PCs containing graphics cards that can handle the technology, will enjoy a redeveloped version of The Witcher 3 that features expected bells and whistles such as “ray tracing and faster loading times”. CD Projekt Red has been a little vague with the details so far, posting on Twitter that the next-gen edition of the game will be “visually and technically enhanced”, but it’s still good news for the millions of fans the franchise has amassed.

It’s particularly generous of the developer to offer this enhanced version of The Witcher 3 (the Complete Edition so with the two expansions and DLC) as a free update to those who already bought a copy of the title for the PS4, Xbox One, or PC. The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt is considered to be one of the best video games of all time and an incredible 28 million units of the game and its expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, have been shipped worldwide.
