Student killed, 23 others injured in Rajouri road accident - Greater Kashmir

Rajouri, Dec 6: A college student was killed and 23 other persons were injured in a road accident at Thandikassi near Rajouri town this morning. The injured include 14 teenager students.

Two cars and a passenger bus were damaged in the mishap. Police said that a bus JK11A 3415 was on its way to Rajouri town from Manjakote and at round 8.30 AM, it turned turtle on highway at Thandikassi, five kilometres ahead of Rajouri town. Two cars also collided with the bus.

The accident, locals said, reportedly took place as a car was coming from wrong side on highway and driver of the bus while trying to avert the collision with car lost control over the vehicle which turned turtle in between the highway.

The car coming from wrong side and another car coming from opposite side also collided with the passenger vehicle, locals said.

Police officials on the other hand informed that 24 persons were injured in the mishap. The injured were taken to Associated Hospital of Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri where one of the injured identified as Mohammad Waseem (21) son of Mohammad Ishfaq resident of Niali was declared as brought dead.

The deceased was a student of Government Post Graduate College Rajouri. Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr Mehmood H Bajar said that 23 injured were brought in the hospital and most of the injured are having multiple injuries but all are out of danger.

He added that teams of doctors are regularly attending the patients and providing them with best possible healthcare.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Vikas Kundal also visited GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri and met with e injured and their attendants. He said that Rajouri is a hilly district and adhering traffic rules and regulations is important and people should ensure to do this especially proper driving.
