ITV I'm A Celebrity Fred Sirieix's three words to fiancée Fruitcake as they reunite on bridge
I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here star Fred Sirieix's fiancée Fruitcake was waiting for him after he said goodbye to the camp on Tuesday's show
by Sam Elliott-Gibbs · The MirrorFred Sirieix had a cute message for his fiancée 'Fruitcake' as they reunited on the bridge after his jungle exit.
We had our third I'm A Celeb eviction tonight as the camp said goodbye to the Frenchman but some fans are sure the maitre'd was convinced he was staying. He looked made up to see her and after chatting to presenters Ant and Dec, he couldn't wait for a hug.
He said: "I love you" as they embraced and his wife-to-be is proud of her man after his time on the show. Fred's fiancée, known by her nickname, beamed as she saw him for the first time in weeks. Last week she said she was proud of how he had dealt with his disagreements with Nigel Farage.
She said: "It's been really fun watching Fred and I am not surprised he has been doing all the cooking and exercising. It is really fun that he has been making loads of friends in there. He is always the chef at home but he is from a French family and it is tradition it is how they show their love."
The maitre'd became the latest person to leave the camp following Nella Rose's controversial exit yesterday evening and Frankie Dettori's short stay in the jungle, when he was the first star to be evicted from the show. Two other stars had already left prior to this owing to medical grounds, with both Jamie Lynn Spears and Grace Dent being sent home.
The 51-year-old won many new fans for going head-to-head with Farage on Europe and immigration early in the series. But his outspoken style also upset some people in camp and viewers as more recently he was highly critical of Josie Gibson's cooking saying it was "like a horror movie" and also moaning about other people's washing up.
Speaking to Ant and Dec after leaving camp, Fred said: "My time in the jungle has been an amazing experience, I got to meet some wonderful people. It is like another life and here I am. I was living in the moment and not thinking about what was happening next. I found it quite easy because I really prepared myself."
Fred was also critical of Josie's cooking in camp. Defending his actions, he said: "She's just making it up as she goes along. So I think there's a lot at stake with the food. And it's not just what you're cooking at the moment which of course is going to be good, because the produce is incredible, it is what you can do the next day with the leftovers of the bones."
On clashing with Nigel Farage over Europe and immigration, he said: "It was great in camp because Nigel is a doer, we can work together, we can go and collect wood and water. But yeah, there is a side of Nigel Farage that I cannot connect with and I will never connect with him. He hasn't brought me around to his way of thinking, no."
On putting himself forward for the last two trials in camp, asked if he was a bit pushy to do them, he said: "I put myself forward. They agreed because it was already pre agreed that they wanted me to do it and the second time, which was yesterday with Marvin, and I said okay, I've been training with Marvin, I'll go and do it with him. I felt like going with him, so we went and it was fun." Asked who should win he said: "Sam would be a good winner."
After being told he was leaving by hosts Ant and Dec, Fred said: "See you guys, take care" and hugged his campmates. Fred ended his jungle experience on a high, taking on two bush tucker trials in Fly On The Wall with Marvin Humes and Celebrity Distressing Rooms trial on his own on Monday winning seven out of nine stars. But arguably his most memorable moments came in the opening week. On the second show and just hours into being in camp he told Farage how he felt.
Fred asked Nigel: “What’s the benefit of Brexit then? If you are an average person from Britain, what’s the benefit?” Nigel said: “To know that we’re independent, we stand on our own two feet in the world.” He then replied: “Brexit was about immigration, I remember your poster. I thought it was shameful what you did Nigel. Shameful," with Nigel adding: "Sadly, sadly it was absolutely true. It was a poster showing mass young men moving illegally across borders.”
